On Friday morning, April 16, a threatening voice mail was received by the College’s Law Enforcement Academy. As a result, the college took an abundance of precaution, and opted to allow only those who had classes or other business at its main campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, Oroville.
Butte College Campus Police Chief Casey Carlson worked throughout the day with local law enforcement and determined all campus services will remain open as normally scheduled. The Butte College Police Department, Butte County Sheriff’s Office, and FBI, worked together to identify a suspect. On the evening of April 16, law enforcement obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect for a felony count of making criminal threats. Law enforcement determined the suspect does not reside anywhere near Butte County.
